So, I was nominated by Anna Robichaud from Swords and Quills! (Thanks, Anna!) So, here we go!
What is your favorite Christmas Song?
Oh, that’s easy! “Last Christmas” the Celtic Thunder version. Keith Harkin is the best . . . and also Damian McGinty. . . ugh I can’t choose!
What is one book that you have read more than twice?
Only one? Well, I guess I’ll say The Horse and His Boy by C. S. Lewis. It’s my favorite out of the whole series because the majority of the story doesn’t involve Earth and it takes place out of Narnia. And come on, talking horses? What’s not to like?
Who is your favorite character from the Lord of the Rings (books or movies)?
Samwise Gamgee. Always Sam. I still need to read the books. I’m stuck in the beginning of the first one, though I have read The Hobbit. But back to Sam. I wasn’t asked why, but I’m going to give you a reason why. Sam is the most loyal, devoted, strong-willed character I just admire. And it always makes me so upset, at the end of “The Return of the King”, when everyone is cheering on Frodo, but no one even glances at Sam. Excuse me! Frodo never would’ve gotten that ring to Mordor if it hadn’t been for Sam! Okay, enough . . . calming down.
What was your favorite childhood book?
Does my time in Junior High count as my childhood? Why not. Besides all the fantasy series I was immersed in, there were these two books, yeah I’m giving you two, that have just stuck with me, and I will never forget them.
The first is Lily’s Crossing by Patricia Reilly Giff. I loved this story SO much! Presently, I do not remember the plot of the book, but I remember how I felt. I loved the atmosphere, how much I cared about Lily and her friend Albert, who was escaping from somewhere and trying to find his family. I remember the setting: 1944, she spends the summer at her Gram’s house along the Atlantic Ocean. I really need to read this again.
The School Story by Andrew Clements is another I will read often. It’s about this 12-year-old girl named Natalie who is a gifted writer, and her friend Zoe somehow convinces her to get her story published, and they actually do it! (Spoilers – yeah I know I was a little late.) Zoe pretends to be Natalie’s literacy agent, they get their English teacher to help, and Natalie’s mom actually ends up editing her book, without even knowing Natalie wrote it. The story is very entertaining!
And . . . any book about Junie B. Jones. Loved that girl!
If you had to choose between a dragon, a griffin, a phoenix, or a pegases for a pet, which would you choose? Why?
Psh . . . easy. Dragon. Because they are giant fire (or other element) breathing reptiles that can fly! What’s not to love?! And if they love you back, they can be your bodyguard!
What is your favorite part about Christmas? Why?
Oh, boy. This is hard. I guess being able to put up my Christmas tree and Christmas lights in my room. With my shades drawn up, my lights on, and an abundances of snow outside, my room is very picturesque.
What is your favorite book genre?
What is your weapon of choice? Why?
The pen! For it is mightier than the sword! But if a pen isn’t available, then I would probably choose the sword. Why? Because swords are awesome! Even though in games, I prefer long-ranged weapons (bow, mage), but in “real life” I’d choose a sword.
What is one favorite Christmas memory?
This didn’t exactly happen on Christmas, but it was a Christmas memory/gift. For fifteen years, my family and I had this beautiful white, Australian Shepherd named Windy, and in 2011 we had to let her go 😥 . For a whole year, we were dog-less and our life didn’t really seem right. Then in December of 2012, our neighbors got a male Golden Retriever puppy because they had also lost a dog as well. And so my mom went over to visit them and their new puppy. When my mom came back home, she had with her a Golden Retriever puppy with a bow around its neck. At first I thought this was our neighbor’s, but no, she was ours! Our neighbors got us a new puppy! Needless to say, there was a lot of happy crying. Her name is Marguerite (Maggie) Hot-Lips McPherson.
How do you react to awkward silence?
Oh boy. I usually scream internally. Or wish really, really hard I could just teleport somewhere else. Or try to find some way of breaking the awkward atmosphere.
What is one character trait that you value about almost all others?
Thanks again, Anna, for nominating me! Now, since I’m a newbie to the blog community, I am not going to nominate anyone because I don’t really know many people in the blog community. But this was fun!
