Yes! Oh, I love these so much! Thanks to Cait and Sky for doing these – they’re absolutely brilliant.

I’m going to make this a little interesting and fun and actually have two of my characters from my current WIP actually answer these questions themselves.

If you haven’t met them already, I would like to introduce to you Alaine Turner and Matthew Hart! They’re both 16 years old, best friends, and hopefully they don’t break into a fight as some point in the post. *crosses fingers*

What’s their favorite book/movie/play/etc.?

Alaine: Oh, this is hard. Ummm *bites lip* I really like Lord of the Rings, I guess the books and movies, Indiana Jones, and I’m not much of a fan of plays.

Matthew: Hard? Try impossible! I don’t honestly have a favorite of anything.

Alaine: Oh come on! Sure you do. Just list some of your favorites. Don’t make this complicated.

Matthew: Fine. *scratches back of neck* Anything written by Stephan King. As for movie, uhhhhhh, I can’t think, there’s too many.

Alaine: Which one do you watch the most?

Matthew: Probably Stars Wars.

Alaine: See? Was that so hard? And for the record, you watch Terminator more than you watch Star Wars. I’ve counted.

Matthew: See?! Too many. But now I have to state what my favorite play is.

Alaine: Oh, no.

Matthew: *starts to count fingers* Lion King, Phantom of the Opera, Fiddler on the Roof, Les Miserables, –

Alaine: Those are musicals. Not plays.

Matthew: I know, but they’re still performed.

Alaine: *Frowns*

Matthew: Fine. A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Much Ado About Nothing.

Alaine: Okay! Next question.

Is there anything they regret doing?

Alaine: As if I’m going to answer that.

Matthew: *laughs*

Alaine: What?

Matthew: I can think of a lot of things you regret.

Alaine: How about I answer this question for you and you answer is for me.

Matthew: *Glares at Alaine* Fine. I’ll go first. You regret chopping off all of your hair when you were eight.

Alaine: That was a mistake! And you promised me you would never mention it again!

Matthew: *shrugs* Whoops.

Alaine: Fine. *Eyes him* Patrice Hamilton.

Matthew: How dare you. You told me you forgot about her.

Alaine: I never forget.

Matthew: *blushes* Next question.

If they were sick or wounded, who would take care of them and how?

Alaine: *laughs* I’d probably be taking care of you.

Matthew: And I’d be taking care of you.

Alaine: No, you wouldn’t. You’d stay as far away from my house as humanly possible! You hate getting sick.

Matthew: I was trying to be nice.

Alaine: Yeah, right. And either my mom or dad would take care of me. And you’re dad would take care of you.

Matthew: Naturally.

Is there an object they can’t bear to part with and why?

Alaine: Your ego?

Matthew: Ha. Not an object. How about a book?

Alaine: That’s true. You can’t go anywhere without one. What about me? What can’t I bear to part with?

Matthew: *Looks up, deep in thought* I’d say your phone, but that’s not entirely true because you always forget your phone.

Alaine: Not always.

Matthew: The majority of the time.

Alaine: I can’t think of anything. Next question.

What are 5 ways to win their heart (or friendship)?

Alaine: *giggles*

Matthew: What?

Alaine: I’m answering this for you. Number 1, chocolate. Number 2, Milky Ways. Number 3, Peanut Brittle. Number 4, Snickers. And number 5, anything with caramel at the center.

Matthew: Are you calling me fat?

Alaine: No! But it’s true. Don’t you remember? In elementary school when it was Valentine’s Day and all those girls gave you chocolates? You practically became their best friend for the day, ignoring me completely, by the way.

Matthew: For the record, you had gotten me a cherry lollypop and you know how much I hate cherry favor.

Alaine: I did it as a joke.

Matthew: Riiigggghhhtttt. Now, you’re turn. *Looks hard at Alaine* Hmm, this is hard because you don’t have a heart.

Alaine: *Playfully hits Matthew in the arm* Hey!

Matthew: What it’s true!

Alaine: *Hits him again* Be serious.

Matthew: Fine. Probably some sort of act of service. They could bring you a smoothie in the morning, pay for your movie ticket, listen to you, bring you fast food when you’re feeling down, do your chores for you when you are in a bad mood.

Alaine: *eyes him* You just named a bunch of stuff you already do.

Matthew: *shrugs* Well, we are friends aren’t we? And it does say, “or friendship.”

Alaine: True. Next question.

Describe a typical outfit for them from top to bottom.

Alaine: Ha! Easy. For you it would be a polo shirt with a sweater on top. Ironed khaki pants and dress shoes, which are shined. And that’s during the school week.

Matthew: And you would wear leggings with a sweatshirt or jacket and some sort of geeky t-shirt and old sneakers. *makes a disgusted face*

Alaine: My shoes are not old! And they smell fine! *Lifts leg up to have him smell her shoe*

Matthew: Put. That. Thing. Down.

Alaine: *drops leg* You’re such a girl.

Matthew: Hey, I care about what scents are inhaled into my nose and your shoes aren’t one of them. Next question.

Alaine: Fine.

What’s their favorite type of weather?

Matthew: *sighs* The cool, crisp early morning air in May.

Alaine: Rain.

Matthew: You could of at least jazz it up.

Alaine: I’m not as romantic as you.

What’s the worst fight they’ve ever been in?

Both: With each other?

Alaine: Or individually? And does it mean verbal fight or fist fight?

Matthew: Well, you’re worst fight would probably be with those girls from junior high.

Alaine: *laughs* Oh, yeah! When I punched on of them in the nose because they kept making fun of my voice. Ah, good times.

Matthew: Violence does not solve anything.

Alaine: Well, it did for that situation. They never bullied me again.

Matthew: Out of fear.

Alaine: And what’s wrong with that?

Matthew: I . . . Look this could go on. Let’s save this conversation for another day.

Alaine: Fine. What about you? You fight with your dad sometimes, but you’ve never actually been in a real fight.

Matthew: Define real fight.

Alaine: Violence.

Matthew: Again, violence does not-

Alaine: Yeah, yeah, I know. Next question.

What names or nicknames have they been called throughout their life?

Alaine: Lainy, Sweetie, Baby Girl.

Matthew: Matty, Matt, though I really don’t prefer that one.

What makes their heart feel alive?

Alaine: For you, it’d be music. Especially jazz.

Matthew: Yeah. *sighs* For you, probably getting scared from a horror movie or reading about a dragon in a book.

Alaine: I don’t get scared when watching horror movies.

Matthew: I have videos of you screaming, jumping which caused the popcorn bowl to fly up to the ceiling, and cowering in the couch cushions.

Alaine: I thought you deleted those.

Matthew: Why would I? You’re hilarious to watch.

Alaine: Delete them.

Matthew: Never.

Alaine: Matthew. Delete them.

Matthew: No. One day you will thank me for not deleting them.

Alaine: Matthew!

And that’s it! Their argument goes on for a while . . . Had to break them a part at one point. But anyway, what did you think? This is kind of how I want to do Character Interviews and speaking of that, if you want you can still vote for who you want me to do for the first Character Interview – hopefully sometimes this month. Can’t wait for next month’s Beautiful People/Books! And have an awesome rest of the day and week!

  1. Haha, they are sooo funny! Boy and girl best friends are one of my favorite things to see in stories, whether romantic or not. Lol, I love Matthew’s reply to the favorite play thing. 😀 Totally me as well. 😉

  2. OH MY GOODNESS MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING. I absolutely LOVE that play! Midsummer Night’s Dream, Phantom, Les Mis, and Fiddler are amazing as well. Has Matthew ever seen the play Cyrano de Bergerac? If he liked Much Ado, I think he’d love Cyrano. Also – has he seen the web series Nothing Much to Do? It’s a modern remake of Much Ado, and it’s one of the best things on the Internet. 😀

I love both these characters, Matthew especially! Their friendship is amazing ❤ I'd definitely read anything with them in it!

    1. I love Cyrano!!!! Though, I don’t believe Matthew has seen, yet. I’ll make sure he does, and I’m sure he’ll love it! And I’ll be sure to have him check out Nothing Much to Do? Have you seen the sort of modern version starring David Tennant and Catherine Tate? Hilarious! I’m not sure if it’s still on Youtube or not, but it’s SO worth the watch! David and Catherine are just the best!

  3. Oh my word, this completely captured me from start to finish! The way you answered the questions was so unique! And, might I add, I absolutely adore your characters??? They’re so hilarious! Especially Mathew! He’s absolutely perfect, lol! 😂

      1. Oh yeah, it totally makes sense! It’s good to get them out of the confines of one story and burst them into the real world sometimes! I do that with my characters, although usually it takes place in my head, so that can get a little…odd… Haha!

      2. Not odd at all! I do it too! If you’re on Facebook, there’s this group I’m in called The Great Chatsby where you basically act as your character. You don’t have to create a new account or anything, but make sure you announce which character you’re playing from your work, and other authors comment or share as their characters. It’s quite fun!

  4. Ok, for starters, your header. My word. Praise. How did you do that? Was it off the internet or did you make it? Either way I love it!

Now onto the post. THAT WAS HILARIOUS! I love how you chose to do it, and just all around– it was really great, good job 🙂
